Take a Mindful Break
Students and parents, take a mindful break! 🤍
What do we mean by this? Taking regular breaks throughout the day is a natural and common integration in everyones’ schedule. But mindful breaks are often overlooked.
Taking a mindful break means having a more intentional mental removal from daily stress. It means to not only physically step away from exhaustion, but mentally step away from it too. By being mindful and focusing on mental breaks, we are able to improve the self-regulation of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and become a happier, healthier and more productive human.
Yes, mindless activities have their time and place, but busy schedules can feel much more manageable with even a small dose of mindfulness integrated in. This can still look like a typical break: taking a 5 min walk, cooking, painting, meditating etc., but having your full attention on the activity at hand (being aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment) and choosing to release your stress makes for the mindfulness.
Therefore, to stressed students or overworked parents, remember escaping stress with mindless activities is not as valuable as engaging in mindful moments. Break with intention, having your mental health at the forefront for WHY you’re resting!
