What Are The Benefits Of Summer School?
There are many great reasons to consider summer school for your kids. Learning about a variety of different subjects ensures that your child is readying themselves for the coming school year, and will be more prepared when they start their classes again after the summer break. Find out more in this article on how long your summer school semester will last, based on where you live and what grade level you’re in!
How is summer school beneficial?
Summer school is a great option for kids who are behind in credits, want to prepare for the next grade level, or want to learn something new. It can provide students the chance to catch up on work that they need to pass for classes or allow high school students to get ahead by taking accredited summer courses for college credits.
This summer with Novel Education Group, students can enroll in a 6 or 12 week virtual accredited Summer Course or sign up for our in-person Summer Camp in Redondo Beach, California. Our summer offerings drive students to grow academically outside of the traditional school year. Students in kindergarten through grade 12 who enroll in a Summer Course, can work ahead or retake a course, gaining what they need to feel confident about entering the new school year.
How long is a typical summer school semester?
The length of a typical summer school semester depends on the student’s age. For younger students, it is typically just six weeks long. But for older students, it can last from four to eight weeks.
To maximize student learning and engagement, Novel Education Group’s online summer program is only 2 weeks long with 3 hours of educational lessons and an optional 4th hour of play, from Monday – Thursday. Our virtual Summer Courses are one semester and year long courses condensed into only 6 and 12 weeks!
Enrichment programs which are bespoke programs can range anywhere from 2-8 weeks. In a traditional summer school, students must attend their regular school and sit in a classroom. With Novel, you can still travel and attend summer vacation and work with a tutor privately via zoom for one 1-2 hours a day and complete any necessary course.
When do I start summer school?
Summer school usually starts in June for K-12 grade students and is divided into two levels. Kindergarteners are usually on a half-day schedule and the first through third grades are on a full day schedule. For those in 4th through 12th grade, summer school is typically on a full day schedule. Novel Education Group’s Summer Camp starts as soon as June 20th and registration for our Summer Courses opened on March 1st. The first First 6-week course begins April 6th with continued rolling enrollment until mid-June.
Who can attend summer school?
Summer school is a chance for students to make up a class they failed, take an advanced course, or get ahead. Most summer schools are available at the elementary, middle and high school levels. We focus on providing services this summer from students as young as Preschool all the way up to 12th grade. During our Summer Camp for students 4-6 years old, we’ll focus on building basic functional and developmental skills with an added educational twist. Your creative learner will learn how to engage in the beginning facets of the reading process and apply that literacy power to their own text, engage in safe and easy experiments to learn how to properly conduct an experiment, and build their cognitive, social, emotional, and motor skills while moving to music.
